The Day of the Lord

(The Second Coming of Christ)

Does anybody know the day or the hour that Jesus will return?

No, only the Father.  (Matt 24:36)

What will be the condition of the Earth when Jesus returns?

The abomination that causes desolation will be standing in the place that it does not belong.  Those in Judea will be fleeing to the mountains.  There will be great distress like never before.  The sun will be darkened and the moon will not give it's light. Nation will rise against nation and kingdom will rise against kingdom.  There will be earthquakes, wars and famines.

What will be happening to the Jews?

The Jews will be persecuted and Jerusalem will be trampled  by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.  They will fall by the sword and be taken as prisoners to all Nations.

What will be happening to the believers?

The saints will be persecuted and put to death.  Those who do not worship the beast and refuse to bare his mark will be killed.

How ought we to treat God's people?

We need to invite them in and feed them and give them drink.  We should cloth them and look after them when they are sick.  We should visit them in prison.

How does the Old Testament describe the Day of the Lord?

As the Great and Dreadful day of the Lord.  A cruel day with wrath and fierce anger.  To make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it.  The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood.

Why does the Bible say that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief?

So that we can be watchful and be ready.

What should we be doing to ensure that we are not found sleeping like the foolish virgins? (Matt 25:1-13)

Turning to God and keeping our vessels full.  We need to be sober minded, self controlled and put on faith and love as a breastplate and the hope of salvation as a helmet.  We need to patiently endure and stand firm.

Will it be easy to recognize Christ when he returns?

Yes.

How will we know him?

He will come the same way that he left.  He will appear in the clouds and all the world will see him coming with power and great glory..

How will he appear?

In the clouds with power and great glory.

Who will see him?

Every eye will see him.

Will anybody try to impersonate Christ in the last days?

Yes.

How can we recognize them?

They will not appear in the Sky.  You will not see how they came.  People will say "look, he has come and you have missed him."

What will happen to our spirit, soul and body when Christ returns; if we are saved? (1Thes 5:23)

They will be preserved forever.

Who will judge the living and the dead?

Christ.

Are we saved by faith or by works?

We are saved by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Will the believers be rewarded for what they have done whilst in the body?

Yes.
